Civil engineering is about making structures that could withstand heavy loads and this course deals with the simulation and testing of the designs before actually doing the construction. The skills attained by this course is not just limited to Civil stream. It has aerospace, mechanical applications too.
Software
Staad.Pro: – Staad.Pro is a structural analysis and design software developed by Research Engineers International and in late 2005 was bought by Bentley’s systems. Staad.pro is a general purpose program for performing the analysis and design of different type of structures. Staad.pro include features for performing fast analysis from static to non linear, to design material like steel. Concrete, timber, composite, shear wall etc…, adding load and load combinations like earthquake load, snow load, moving load, wind load etc….Inclusion of international codes and steel shapes makes staad pro a perfect software for international projects and companies.
Etabs: – Etabs is an integrated software package for the structural analysis and design of building structures developed by CSi ( computers and structures inc). Etabs offers 3d object based modelling and visualization tools, fast linear and nonlinear analytical power, comprehensive design capabilities for a wide range of materials and graphic displays, reports, detailing of structure and schematic drawings allow user to understand analysis and design results.
